About Us
Calera Corporation is a clean energy Silicon Valley startup based in Los Gatos, CA. Founded in 2007, Calera seeks to develop scalable technologies that reduce industrial CO2 emissions by capturing and converting industrial CO2 emissions (e.g. power plants, chemical plants, cement plants) into minerals or other usable materials. Calera has pioneered a technology, called Mineralization via Aqueous Precipitation (MAP) that converts CO2 that would have otherwise been emitted to the atmosphere to a calcium carbonate cementitious material that has beneficial use in the building industry. The company has demonstrated the process at both Pilot and Demonstration scale at its research facility in Moss Landing, California which is located next to a natural gas power plant from which Calera can capture a slip stream of the flue gas emissions.
