Fuel & Power

Fuel Providers

For providers of coal and other fossil fuels, finding ways to reduce the carbon dioxide emitted by combustion of their products could become a matter of economic life or death. Calera’s process promises to permanently and cost-effectively capture and convert carbon dioxide emissions from major users of these fuels, such as power plants, cement kilns, steel mills and refineries. The output of the process is not a gas requiring compression, transport and storage, but a marketable green product in which carbon is permanently converted to carbonate mineral form.

Power Plants

Electricity generating units powered by coal and other fossil fuels are in particular need of finding cost-effective ways to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. Calera’s process can permanently and affordably capture and convert these emissions, along with sulfur dioxide, mercury, and other metals. The output of the process is a marketable green product that can provide a revenue stream. Since many power plants currently transport their fly ash to concrete manufacturers, the distribution channels for these products already exist.
