Calera's mission is to make its "CO2-clean fossil power" technology the most widely adopted industrial approach to mitigating carbon emissions. Rather than replacing cement, our goal is to store CO2 in the built environment and lower the carbon footprint of concrete, while increasing its quality.
Each year the world produces 12.5 billion tons of concrete, which accounts for 5 percent or more of the world's CO2 emissions. Calera has developed a technology that offers a beneficial reuse of CO2 in the form of "carbon-negative" cement.
